An Agra court sentenced a 45-year-old man to life in prison for sexually assaulting a minor in 2013 and also ordered the UP Director General of Police (DGP) to take action against the investigating officer (IO) for “failing to do their work properly and submitting a case closure report” at that time.
The court conducted trial of the case after rejecting the closing report. In its order, the court has asked the DGP and Agra Police Commissioner to take “necessary measures” against the IO in the case, an IPS officer, for giving a clean note to the accused despite having evidence against him. said the district government attorney. The IPS officer is now serving in a senior position in another district. The court questioned six prosecution witnesses.
According to the prosecution, the case dates back to May 8, 2013, when the victim’s relatives went to the local police station and filed a complaint.
