An emergency message from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office warns people to stay inside and lock their doors after two people who are armed and are fleeing police were last seen near Stoughton.
UPDATE (WKOW) — The two suspects who ran from police after a traffic stop near Stoughton have been found dead, according to the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
In an update online, officials said after several hours of attempting to contact an armed suspect who was barricaded in a home on Ramsey Road in Albion a robot was used to look inside. That’s when they learned the man died from apparent suicide.
The second suspect, a woman, was also found dead.
The roads in the surrounding area have reopened and the public is not in danger, officials said.
More details are expected to be released later Thursday.
NEAR STOUGHTON, Wis. (WKOW) — The Dane County Sheriff’s Office warned people to stay inside and lock their doors after two people who are armed and are fleeing police were last seen near Stoughton.
The Sheriff’s Office posted a message that said a man and a woman were last seen in the 1300 block of Washington Road in the Town of Albion, which is east of Stoughton. The message said a female was armed with a handgun and a male was armed with a rifle, and they are considered dangerous.
The incident led to the closure of all lanes of Highway 51 at Washington Road near Stoughton. An alert from the WisDOT Traffic Management Center said the lane blockage began around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday.
According to a Facebook post around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office said an armed suspect attempting to flee from law enforcement was barricaded inside a home on Ramsey Rd. in the town of Albion. The Sheriff’s Office has a tactical response team and crisis negotiators on scene. Authorities said Highway 51 between CTH W and Washington Rd. remained closed.
