2 shots fired on Bowie State University campus

Two people were shot Saturday night on the Bowie State University campus. Campus and Prince George’s County police officers and state troopers responded around 11:30 p.m. to Henry Circle for reports of shots fired. Maryland State Police Superintendent Col. Roland Butler said officers were assisting Bowie State University with security during homecoming weekend. Police said officers responded to the school’s Center for Business and Graduate Studies after receiving a report of a shooting. A preliminary investigation indicates that two 19-year-old men were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. No other injuries were reported. “This is really tragic,” Butler said. Maryland State Police Maj. Kenny Brown said a gun was recovered and it is preliminarily believed there may have been more than one shooter. Brown said the shooting was isolated and investigators believe there is no threat to others.
