Lloyds Banking Group is closing 26 Lloyds and Halifax branches across the UK this month, while two Bank of Scotland sites are also due to shut in October. A total of 26 Lloyds Banking Group branches are scheduled to close between October 1 and October 29, 2026, as the banking giant continues to reshape its high street network.
The closures comprise 23 Lloyds Bank branches and three Halifax branches. Separate closures are also taking place at Bank of Scotland branches in Scotland, including Hawick and Grangemouth. The changes come as customers increasingly move towards mobile apps and online banking, reducing the number of people using physical branches.
At the same time, Halifax is undergoing a major digital change, with customers being moved across to Lloyds’ digital banking services. From October 5, Halifax customers are being moved towards the Lloyds Bank app and online banking. Halifax’s digital services are due to end from November 1, meaning customers who still use Halifax’s app or online banking will need to have moved to Lloyds.
