4.3 magnitude earthquake shakes Bihar’s Araria

This comes hours after a magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck western Nepal on Tuesday.

A 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck Bihar’s Araria district early Wednesday morning, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The tremor was felt at 5.35 am. So far no damage has been reported from the quake.

The epicenter of the quake was located 140 kilometers southwest (SW) of Siliguri in West Bengal, while it struck at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.

“Earthquake magnitude: 4.3, occurred on 12/04/2023, 05:35:10 IST, latitude: 25.98, longitude: 87.26, depth: 10 km, location: 140 km southwest of Siliguri, West Bengal,” the NCS said in a tweet.

This comes hours after a magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck western Nepal on Tuesday. The quake, centered in the Baluwa area of ​​Gorkha district, 140 km west of Kathmandu, struck the region at 6:50 p.m. local time, according to the Kathmandu National Seismological Center.

The 4.1-magnitude quake was also felt in neighboring Lamjung and Tanhu counties, according to officials.

However, there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties in the incident.
