Skyline Ranches road dispute headed to Nebraska Supreme Court

First Alert 6 has an update to our investigation on the crumbling roads in Skyline Ranches.

Property owners took the city of Omaha to court to get public works to maintain their dilapidated streets. The case is now headed to the Nebraska Supreme Court.

Omaha annexed Elkhorn, which includes Skyline Ranches, in 2005. Skyline says its roads were perfectly fine until Omaha assumed the obligation for the maintenance.

Public works has maintained that taxpayers shouldn’t be on the hook for all the repairs to substandard roads and that the neighbors have the option to cost share the improvements.

The Nebraska Supreme Court is expected to hear the case in September.
