DERA GHAZI KHAN:
Nine people died while 23 were left injured as a passenger coach collided with a stone-carrying tractor-trolley near Shahwali on the Indus Highway.
The passenger coach coming in from the front collided with the tractor-trolley and two passenger coaches at the same time.
Nine people died on the spot while 23 were injured. The condition of four people was said to be critical.
The names of those who died in the accident are Ghulam Shabbir Bagiani; Nader Linjwani; Bhutto; FC employee Kifayatullah Khan, son of Abdul Hameed; Kashif, son of Nabi Ghulam, an Air Force employee; Sher Zaman, son of Mushir Muhammad Imran, another Air Force employee.
Three dead bodies were taken to Rojhan THQ while eight out of 25 injured were referred after being given first aid at the THQ. The other five people who died and the remaining injured were shifted to Shahwali Hospital.
According to the sources, Haji Rafiq, the driver of the Quetta coach died in the accident.
Rescue 1122 and police teams reached the accident site as soon as the accident was reported.
It has been reported that one of the bus victims of the accident was going from Peshawar to Karachi while the other bus was coming from Quetta to Rajanpur.
The accident occurred due to fog.
Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi expressed grief and regret over the incident of the death of nine people in a traffic accident near Rajanpur.
He expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the deceased.
Chief Minister Elahi sought a report on the tragic incident and said that action should be taken against the driver responsible for the accident as per the law.
He also directed that the best treatment facilities should be provided to the injured.
Elahi also said that he equally shared the grief of the families of the deceased.
Taking notice of the bus accident in Rajanpur, on the instructions of Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatta, teams reached the accident site to help the injured and medical emergency has been implemented in hospitals.
The administration of DG Khan Teaching Hospital has also been put on high alert.
The commissioner has directed that attention should be given to the best treatment in the hospitals of the bus accident victims. He said that the government will bear the expenses of the treatment of the injured.
He has also directed necessary steps to search for the heirs of the deceased and transfer the bodies.
