Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has lashed out at current Pak bowlers for not giving due respect to former bowling coach Morne Morkel. The South African, who was with Pakistan last year, is now bowling coach of India. Ali’s comments come after India beat Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first of two Tests.
“The Pakistani bowlers consider themselves to be bigger than cricket. They thought that Morkel was nothing in front of us,” Ali said on his YouTube channel.
The former Pak player also highlighted the difference between India and Pakistan pace attack by sighting Bangladesh’s whitewash against Pakistan in the Test series before India Test.
“We got to know the difference. This is the same Bangladesh played against Pakistan, where it seemed as if Pakistan were completely on the back foot. This is the same Bangladesh that whitewashed Pakistan. The difference is of mindset, thinking and class,” he added.
Indian pacers played a pivotal role in first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, claiming eight of 10 wickets in the first innings.
India posted 376 runs in the first innings of the Chennai Test before bowling out Bangladesh for a paltry 149. Jasprit Bumrah led India’s pace attack with a four-for while Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep picked two each.
In the second innings, spinners Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took on the onus and shared nine wickets between them while Bumrah took one.
The second Test between India and Bangladesh starts September 27 in Kanpur. India will host New Zealand for three Tests afterwards before heading to Australia for the much awaited five-Test Border-Gavaskar series.
India have not lost a Test series against Australia since 2014. They have won four consecutive Test series against the Aussie in the last decade which include two at home and two Down Under.
