India’s Union Ministry of Tourism will begin establishing city-based MICE promotion bureaus across India from 2026, as part of a national strategy to strengthen the country’s position in the global events market.

The bureaus will operate as independent, professional entities formed in partnership with state governments and private stakeholders. They are intended to provide coordinated support for domestic and international events, including facilitation of permissions and local partner engagement.

The announcement was made by Suman Billa, additional secretary and director general, Ministry of Tourism, at the IEIA EventTech & MarTech Summit 2025 in New Delhi.

According to the Ministry, the city-level MICE bureaus will serve as single-window facilitators for event organisers and are expected to become a core institutional element of India’s MICE strategy.

The Indian Exhibition Industry Association (IEIA), which organised the summit, added that the public-private partnership model would help reduce entry barriers for international organisers by offering verified local networks and standardised support.

The initiative aligns with recent investments in large-scale venues such as Bharat Mandapam, Yashobhoomi and Mumbai’s Jio World Centre, and with the prioritisation of MICE tourism under the Incredible India campaign. The objective is to develop multiple Indian cities into internationally competitive MICE destinations.

IEIA estimates India’s MICE market, valued at US$49.4 billion in 2024, could grow to US$103.7 billion by 2030. The association said professional city bureaus and the adoption of national standards would be critical to sustaining this growth.
