Building company based in UK seaside town collapses into liquidation

A building firm in a UK seaside town has collapsed into liquidation. Southwood Building Contractors Limited is based in Christchurch, Dorset. A listing published on January 27 said that a virtual meeting of creditors of the business – individuals or bodies owed money by the company – is being held by its directors on February 5 to discuss how the liquidator will be paid.

James Stares of Antony Batty & Company LLP, is qualified to act as insolvency practitioner, a professional who helps deal with businesses that cannot pay their debts, the web page added, and will give creditors any information about the firm they need free of charge.

Southwood previously wrote online that it was a “trusted partner in quality building and carpentry services”, according to Google. The firm added: “With years of experience in the industry, we specialise in home extensions, loft conversions, and commercial construction solutions, as well as fire door installation, inspection and maintenance.

“We’re committed to quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction, bringing your visions to life through personalised, efficient, and sustainable practices.

“Whether you’re looking to expand your family home or need expert carpentry for care home facilities, Southwood Building has got you covered.

“Our seasoned team of professionals guide you through every step, from initial consultation to project completion, ensuring a hassle-free experience.”

The company’s Facebook page says it provided “quality residential home extensions and improvements”.

It specialised in the commercial and care home sector.

The firm was previously known as Southwood Carpentry Limited between October 3, 2007, and August 27, 2010.

Companies House says the nature of the business was “joinery installation”.
