Meet artist Davinchi Suresh who reimagined the traditional pookkalam, or floral rangoli, by creating what is being described as the ‘world’s first saree pookkalam’. Giving it a unique twist, instead of using colourful flowers, Suresh used 2,500 sarees to craft a striking design that eventually formed the face of a woman.
The artwork was displayed at Forum Mall in Kochi and drew the attention of industrialist Harsh Goenka. Sharing a video on X, Goenka showcased several artists carefully arranging the sarees across the mall’s ground floor to create the giant portrait.
Apparently, the artists spent countless hours working on the installation before completing the intricate masterpiece. Impressed by their creativity and dedication, Goenka praised the effort, writing, “2,500 saris. One breathtaking masterpiece. Human mind is so innovative!”
His post resonated with many social media users, who also lauded the artists for their ingenuity and hard work in bringing the remarkable artwork to life.
