Horror as remains of foetus found near UK river – police launch investigation

Police have launched an urgent investigation after the remains of a foetus were found near a river in Lancashire. Officers were called to a report of the discovery beneath Hodder Bridge on Whalley Road in Stonyhurst at 3.13pm on Tuesday.

An investigation is now underway to establish how the remains came to be at that location. A spokesperson from Lancashire police said: “At 3:13pm on Tuesday 11th August we were called to reports of the discovery of remains of a foetus close to the area beneath Hodder Bridge, Whalley Road, Stonyhurst. Officers attended and a scene is currently in place with enquiries ongoing.

“We know this is concerning to hear about, and we want to reassure you that a full investigation is underway to determine how the remains came to be at the location they were found.

“If you were in this area between Sunday 9th and Tuesday 11th August at 3pm and witnessed anything unusual, have any dashcam footage from travelling over that bridge, or feel you can help us in any way, please call 101 quoting log 864 of 11th August.”
