To mark the occasion, a ‘Devi Utsav’ will be held on Thursday 9th March at Tundikhel, Kantipath in Kathmandu.
The long-awaited dream of thousands of devotees in Nepal came true when Indian spiritual leader Sadhguru consecrated the Linga Bhairavi Devi Temple on Tuesday, March 7 in Kathmandu. With this, Nepal became the first country outside of India to host the Linga Bhairavi Devi temple.
Sadhguru enshrined Linga Bhairavi through prana pratishtha, a rare mystical process that uses vital energies to transform a mere stone into a deity, according to a statement. Linga Bhairavi’s energy strengthens the three basic chakras in the human system, thus stabilizing the body, mind and energy system, he said.
The temple in Nepal will be open for devotees every day from 6:30 am to 1:20 pm and from 4:20 pm to 8:20 pm. Devi Abhisekham, a set of eleven auspicious offerings with aarti, will be performed three times a day, at 7:40am, 12:40pm and 7:40pm.
Speaking about Linga Bhairavi Devi, Sadhguru said, “Those who gain Bhairavi’s Grace do not have to live in worry or fear of life or death, poverty or failure. All that human beings consider well-being will be theirs, if only they get Bhairavi’s Grace.”
The first Linga Bhairavi temple was consecrated at Isha Yoga Centre, Coimbatore, India, in 2010. Linga Bhairavi temples have since been erected in New Delhi, Gobi and Salem in India. The temple sanctuaries are administered by women. While both men and women come to visit, only the women attend the sanctum sanctorum and the Devi. Called Bhairagini Maas, these women come from different castes, religions, and different parts of the world.
To mark the occasion, a ‘Devi Utsav’ will be held on Thursday 9th March at Tundikhel, Kantipath in Kathmandu from 7-9:30pm. The festivities on the program include dance, music and devotion. Sadhguru will also be holding a special satsang that will explore the different aspects of Devi and take participants through a powerful guided meditation.
‘Devi Utsav’ participants will receive consecrated offerings from Devi that include a Devi Abhaya Sutra, a sacred thread that helps ward off fear and fulfill ambitions, and a special photo of Devi.
Live translation will be available in Nepali and anyone over the age of 8 can attend. Registration for the program is available. here.
