Dylan Mulvaney Reveals How He Dealt With Bud Light Backlash

Trans activist and TikTok influencer dylan mulvaney He said his TikTok was once a “pretty safe space” but turned into a “culture war in the comments” following outrage from conservatives over his association with outbreak of light in early April.

In an episode of the “Dear Schuyler” Podcast This week, Mulvaney said the criticism has affected her sleep, stressing that she now speaks “so much” on her platform for people who value her.

“What’s sad is that my page for a second was a pretty safe space, and then recently it turned into a culture war in the comments,” Mulvaney told Schuyler Dance, the first openly trans swimmer in NCAA Division 1 history.

Mulvaney’s association with Bud Light drew a storm of criticism from republicans. Kid Rock posted a video shooting cans of Bud Light, while Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) called for a boycott of the beer.

mulvaney broke his week-long silence on TikTok at the end of April, when he commented that “dehumanization has never fixed anything in history ever.”

Mulvaney told Dancing that before the recent flurry of criticism, a person she didn’t like used to keep her up at night.

“Now there are hundreds of thousands of people who don’t like me and I still sometimes can’t sleep,” Mulvaney said.

“In a weird way, it’s been a blessing to break that mentality of pleasing people because I can’t, there’s no way I can win those people over,” he continued. “And actually, if you go back to some of my earlier videos, I was kind of pleading with these people. I thought, what can I say to show you a different part of me?

Sales and pours of Bud Light have reportedly run into trouble in the wake of the outrage. The Human Rights Campaign hit Anheuser-Buschthan previously received anti-aircraft fire for the statement of its CEO about the association, for lending “credit to the hateful rhetoric.”

The Bud Light sales slump continued in the week ending April 29, as the company experienced a 23% decline in sales compared to a year earlier, according to data from Bump Williams Consulting. Reported by CBS News.
