A University of Wisconsin-Madison student was found beaten up early Sunday near Bedford and Wilson Street. Police were called to West Wilson and Bedford streets around 3:20 am. The woman was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she remains in critical condition. No other information about the victim has been released. It appears to be an attack by a stranger, police said. “I have authorized a full complement of law enforcement resources to bring this person or persons to justice,” Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes said during a news conference. Patrols in this area have been increased for the time being. The police also encourage people to walk in groups, especially at night, when possible and to notify someone when leaving and arriving at their destination. Anyone who lives within four blocks of this area and has a home security camera of hers should send the video to detectives.
