A Tomato-Filled Weekend at the New York Botanical Garden

At the height of tomato season the New York Botanical Garden is stepping up to the plate, so to speak. It has scheduled a weekend of hands-on tomato activities. Planting and tending on-site, potting basil to take home, making bruschetta, sampling heirloom tomatoes, learning the history of tomatoes and decorating aprons are some of what’s in store for those who attend.

Totally Tomatoes Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m., included in all-garden pass ($30 for adults, $28 for students and those over 65, $15 children 2 to 12, free for members), Edible Academy, the New York Botanical Garden, 2900 Southern Boulevard (Xavier Way), Bronx, nybg.org.
