AEW reportedly planning 2025 stadium show in Australia

All Elite Wrestling is planning a huge stadium show in Australia in 2025, according to The Sporting News. Sources say AEW officials are scouting venues on Australia’s east coast, including Sydney’s Allianz Stadium, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, and Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium. The event is expected to be backed by entertainment company TEG.

The report comes just days after AEW owner Tony Khan teased that “the most important announcements in AEW history” were coming. Many believe one of these announcements will involve a new media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. On that front, Khan said AEW is close to making its “most important deal” yet.

There has also been chatter that AEW is planning a stadium show in the United States, with Texas being the frontrunner to host such an event. In July, Fightful Select reported that AEW was considering a stadium show in Texas next year. However, Tony Khan shot that down, telling ComicBook.com, “It’s not something that we would be looking to do anytime here in the immediate future.” This week, Fightful updated the story, saying Globe Life Field in Arlington is the likely venue if the show happens.

If The Sporting News’ report is true, AEW will have an opportunity to make its mark on Australia, a country with a rich pro wrestling history. In the 1960s and 1970s, stars such as Bruno Sammartino and Bruiser Brody often wrestled Down Under. In the late 2000s, Hulk Hogan faced off against Ric Flair in a series of shows. This past February, Optus Stadium in Perth hosted WWE’s Elimination Chamber. More than 50,000 fans attended the show, which saw Australia’s Rhea Ripley defeat Nia Jax in the main event.
