**Interim Prime Minister Awaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Saturday denied the impression that the interim Taliban government in Afghanistan was not listening to Pakistan’s concerns.
“I don’t think there is a perception that the Taliban were not listening to Pakistan, nor is there any such thing. Pakistan has any special demand related to the Taliban,” he said in an interview with the Voice of America Urdu (VOA Urdu).
Kakar said Pakistan faces challenges in the western border related to terrorism.
“When the Doha negotiations were underway, even then, regional countries – including Pakistan, China, Central Asia and Russia – and the forces of the International Security Assistance Force and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which were leaving the region, they held detailed talks on a point that the Afghans The ground is not used against any country related to terrorism,” Kakar said.
He went on to say that the Afghan Taliban had shown commitment during the Doha negotiations and had been persuaded to engage in ongoing talks with neighbors in the region. “Now, there are several reasons why this is not happening and there may be numerous reasons.”
He stated that Pakistan was focused on many issues and was acting appropriately, adding that the country was involved in the appropriate forum for the role desired by the other party.
According to the acting prime minister, Pakistan has the right to self-defence. “We will make the decisions we believe are necessary to safeguard our people and our environment.”
He avoided going into details about what kind of operations Pakistan might undertake in response to terrorist threats.
“We will make decisions in response to those threats as necessary. Hopefully it will show what we want to do or what we are capable of.”
He denied the idea that the United States had secretly He left weapons in Afghanistan.
The prime minister said he sees no prospect of delaying the general elections due to the security situation at Pakistan’s borders.
“I don’t see that possibility right now,” he said.
“We are confident that we will maintain control of the situation and at the same time finalize the electoral process,” he stated.
