Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and opted to bat in the second one-day international match against Pakistan in Colombo on Thursday.
Pakistan retained the same eleven that won the opener in Hambantota, Sri Lanka, on Tuesday by a margin of 142 runs, while Afghanistan brought on Shahidullah Kamal and Riaz Hassan in a double substitution.
Fast pitcher Azmatullah Omarzai and all-rounder Rahmat Shah were left out.
The last game will also be played on Saturday in Colombo.
