Mark Blicavs faces an extended spell on the sidelines with a knee injury, while fellow veteran Patrick Dangerfield endured one of the quietest games of his legendary career in the Cats’ shock loss to Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday.
The Cats were left short-handed in more ways than one when Blicavs limped off in the 13th minute after he suffered a hyperextended lateral ligament in his left knee when his leg collided with Zak Butters’ attempted smother.
Dangerfield booted the first goal of the game, barely a minute in, but then didn’t touch the pill again for virtually the next 90 minutes, finishing with a paltry four disposals, his lowest individual tally in any AFL game he has completed.
Geelong did all the early running, notching one centre clearance after another, and forging ahead by 15 points when Jeremy Cameron slotted a typical “Jezza Special” from the north-western pocket.
