AFL LIVE: ‘They didn’t back us in’: Gawn’s dig at AFL, broadcasters; Magpies, Blues face off at MCG

Melbourne were too good for too long as they came back from a 25-point deficit to beat North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium despite losing Daniel Turner and Changkuoth Jiath to injury.

The Roos blazed away at the start, taking a four-goal lead, but from the second term onwards, the Dees were in control. They grabbed the lead early in the third quarter and powered on from there.

Tom Sparrow and Kysaiah Pickett were speedy and decisive for the Dees while Matthew Jefferson kicked four goals.

Harry Sheezel tried his hardest for the Roos with 31 disposals, but his side couldn’t create enough scoring chances, nor keep control of the running Dees as the game wore on.

The win keeps the Dees in the top four, for now pending other results, while the loss for the Roos dents their top-10 chances.

Turner was taken to hospital for scans on his injured ribs, while Jiath limped off with a leg injury.
