New Geelong ruckman Rowan Marshall has revealed he was “shattered” to not have been traded to the Cats last year, and has opened up on the reasoning behind his decision to boycott the St Kilda’s best-and-fairest count this week.
Marshall, 30, was a relieved man on Thursday when the Cats parted ways with selection 14 and a future third-round pick for the robust big man, who had his role as the Saints’ frontline ruckman relegated when they signed Tom De Koning last year on a massive contract.
While the trade was a year late, Marshall was delighted he could finally make the move.
“Yeah, I was pretty shattered at the time to miss out on getting to the Cats last year, but, like I said, moved on and happy it worked out, second time around,” Marshall said on Friday.
