ACCRA, Nov 9 (Reuters) – The African Growth Financial institution (AfDB) has authorised a $102.6 million funds assist programme for Ghana targeted on fiscal consolidation and financial restoration, the financial institution and Ghana’s finance ministry mentioned on Thursday.
Ghana, which produces gold, cocoa and oil, is in talks with bilateral and industrial collectors to restructure its money owed amid its worst financial disaster in a era.
The West African nation has been locked out of worldwide capital markets because it struggles with spiralling home debt prices.
“This system will facilitate the federal government’s financial restoration reforms by enhanced public finance, elevated productiveness, and job creation,” AfDB’s consultant, Eyerusalem Fasika, mentioned in an announcement launched after the signing ceremony.
The programme enhances Ghana’s ongoing prolonged credit score facility with the Worldwide Financial Fund, she added.
The IMF’s govt board in Might authorised a $3 billion mortgage over three years for the African nation, with an instantaneous disbursement of about $600 million.
Ghana expects to obtain one other tranche after a debt-restructuring cope with its official collectors.
Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta will current the West African nation’s 2024 funds in parliament on Nov. 15.
