After boating accident on Lake Winnipesaukee, occupants flee, NH police say

The boaters fled the scene of the accident after their boat crashed into another at a dock on New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesaukee late Saturday, state police said.

The occupants of a 50-foot SeaRay boat were taken from the scene of the accident by another boat that had been located Sunday morning, police said. It was not immediately clear if the people who were on the boat at the time of the accident had been identified or if they were facing charges.

The New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol said they were called to the accident at Winter Harbor in Wolfeboro around 11 pm The SeaRay, registered to Windham, was on the rocks after having struck a docked ship.

There was no one on the docked ship at the time.

The driver and several passengers were seen getting off the SeaRay and boarding a Pelham-registered blue 1997 Well Craft boat headed toward Tuftonboro, police said. He was found Sunday in the dock of a house in the city.

Police continued to investigate what happened Sunday and asked anyone who saw what happened or had information to contact them at 603-227-2112 or 603-846-3333.
