After state elections: can Merz keep his job?

“If there are forces within the party who wish to see the Chancellor replaced, they certainly cannot be blamed. However, it’s high time they came out of hiding and pushed for his replacement. Either that or they should keep their mouths shut. For the country, and for this government, a prolonged cliffhanger in the Chancellery, with Merz’s support fading away completely in the autumn, would be intolerable. In the current global situation, Germany, as the EU’s most important country, must remain stable and reliable.”
