Amid promotions for her upcoming film Gadar 2, Ameesha Patel turned herself in at the Ranchi Civil Court in connection with a 2018 bounced check case on Saturday. According to ANI, the court granted him conditional bail soon after. She has also been asked to physically appear in court on June 21.
The case dates back to 2018 when Ameesha came to Ranchi to attend a program at Harmu Ground. There she met businessman Ajay Kumar Singh and discussed financing a film with him. Singh owns Lovely World Entertainment. Singh invested in the film project. However, the film did not see the light of day.
He demanded that Ameesha give him his money back. He repaid the amount of Rs 2.50 crore via check, but the check bounced. In November 2021, Ameesha made headlines for a similar reason when she bounced her Rs 32.25 lakh check for UTF Telefilms.
Ameesha Patel is currently preparing to return to the big screen with Gadar 2, co-starring Sunny Deol. The film picks up from the ending of Gadar in which Sunny played Tara Singh and Ameesha plays her love interest Sakina. The film will hit theaters on August 11. will collide with akshay kumarOMG 2.
On Ameesha Patel’s birthday on June 9, the makers re-released the first movie: Gadar in theaters and released the trailer shortly after. At the end of Gadar; the creators attached the teaser for Gadar 2 which began with the dialogue “Damaad hai yeh Pakistan ka, Isko nariyal do, Tika Lagao, Warna is bar wo dahej mein lahore le jayega”. Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 also stars Utkarsh Sharma in the lead role.
Gadar 2 recently sparked controversy after a romantic video of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel walking hand in hand in a Gurudwara was leaked on the internet. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) called out the creators on social media. GPC General Secretary Gurcharan Singh Grewal criticized Sunny Deol over the scene and expressed his disgust.
Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma took to Twitter to react to the controversy. In a lengthy Twitter note, the filmmaker apologized if he had hurt any religious feelings and said the leaked video is not edited.
