An aerial “incident” involving US defense personnel took place near the city of Darwin, Australia, officials have confirmed.

The incident took place mid-morning Sunday local time on Melville Island during exercise Predator’s Run 2023, an Australian Defense Department spokesman said.

The spokesman said that at this time “the focus is on the response to the incident and ensuring the safety of those involved.”

No further information on possible victims was provided.
