Amazon brings BBC shows to India as battle with Ambani intensifies

Amazon.com Inc. will start broadcasting BBC programs in Indiaopening a new front in an escalating entertainment war with the likes of Asia’s richest man, mukesh ambaniin one of the largest media markets in the world.

Starting Thursday, Amazon’s India-based Prime Video members will be able to watch popular British mainstays, including The Great British Bakeoff and Strictly come dance on BBC Player, as well as BBC Kids, through additional annual subscriptions at 599 rupees ($7.3), the companies said in a joint statement, without elaborating on the deal.
