Are the Stormers cursed by Jake White’s Bulls? 3 bizarre occurrences in a row!

From mid-game Halloween storms (pun-intended), clear try-scoring chances going abegging and a knock-on over the tryline to win it – 3 bizarre occurrences have left the Stormers shell-shocked against Jake White’s Bulls!

The bounce of the rugby ball is a funny thing, often the difference between a win and a loss in these derbies. These occurrences took it a step further – 3 times in a row!

Following last night’s tightly contested derby where the Stormers succumbed to a 20-16 loss to White’s Bulls, Stormers fans would be looking to the skies wondering how they didn’t win – again!

3 Bizarre occurrences in recent Bulls vs Stormers clashes

Mid-game storm occurs at Loftus Versfeld on the night of Halloween

On the 31 October the Bulls vs Stormers clash was called off following a sudden lightning storm.

The storm had already occurred on the pitch with the players left shell-shocked and blown away.

They were trailing 39-6 against Jake White’s Bulls with 30 minutes left! Lightening then ended the stormers Halloween nightmare.

Play was abandoned, with the Bulls awarded the victory.

Knock-on over the tryline!

Oh no! How? Why? Stormers fans were left as bewildered as they were frustrated. They returned to Loftus with a point to prove and aimed to become the first side to beat Jake White’s Bulls at Loftus. They ALMOST did just that…

After trailing 34-29, the Stormers made inroads towards the Bulls line. The whole team celebrated as Juarno Augustus went over the tryline for what would have been the match winning try.

He went over but the knocked the ball on! Dropping it as he dived over and with it dropping his teams chances at history in Pretoria.

Knock-on with the tryline and victory in sight – AGAIN!

Last night presented the Stormers their best chance at beating White’s Bulls yet. They were playing at home and the Bulls were without Trevor Nyakane, Stedman Gans and Kurt-Lee Arendse who have wreaked havoc against them in past fixtures.

Nyakane had destroy their scrums whilst Gans and Arendse scored excellent tries against them.

The Stormers did have 2019 SA Rugby Player of the year Pieter-Steph du Toit back in action.

Yet, history repeated itself in the cruelest fashion…

The Cape side trailed 20-16 before Du Toit made a break before knocking it on. Here a successful pass would have been a certain match-winner under the poles!

Stormers fans will have their hands on their heads after letting it slip (literally), once more.
