In an effort to entice new recruits, the U.S. Army is offering up to $50,000 to anyone who enlists for six years.Â
The incentives package ranges from $1,000 to $40,000 depending on the necessity of the job, the difficulty of the selected career and more. Career opportunities range from infantry and Special Forces, occupations such as radar repairers, signal support systems specialists and motor transport operators, the U.S. Army Recruiting Command said in a news release.
“This is an opportunity to entice folks to consider the Army,” Brig. Gen. John Cushing, deputy commanding general for operations at the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, said in a statement. “We’ve taken a look at the critical (military occupational specialties) we need to fill in order to maintain the training bases, and that is where we place a lot of our emphasis.”

There are also additional incentives for signing up for Airborne or Ranger schools, a recruit who opts to jump out of airplanes could get $10,000. While choosing to become a Ranger could earn you up to $20,000.
For those prepared to head to Basic Combat Training within 90 days could receive $2,000 to $9,000 for the quick transition. The sooner the recruit joins the training, the higher the bonus, the USAREC said.
The bonus opportunities can stack up, as the USAREC explained: “An infantry recruit signing a six-year contract could receive a critical skill bonus of $21,000 and an accession bonus of $3,000. That same recruit could also opt for Ranger school and enter the Army with a total of $34,000.”
In the Army’s past, bonuses for new full-time recruits didn’t surpass $40,000.
