According to the data, 9,30,531 children in the primary level are out of school, including 5.02 lakh boys and 4.27 lakh girls.

Uttar Pradesh has 3.96 lakh children out of school, followed by 1.34 lakh in Bihar and 1.06 lakh in Gujarat.

“Under the Samagra Shiksha scheme, all states and Union Territories (UT) are required to conduct a household survey to identify Out-of-School Children (OoSC).

“This Department has developed an online module to compile the OoSC data identified by each state and UT and its mapping with the Special Training Centers (STC) in the PRABANDH Portal,” Devi said.

Special training for age-appropriate admission of out-of-school children and residential and non-residential training for older children, seasonal shelters and residential camps, special training centers in the workplaces, transportation and escort facilities to bring these children. to the formal education system.

“The standards for special training are Rs 6,000 per year per child for non-residential courses and Rs 20,000 per year per child for residential courses.

“From 2021-22, financial assistance of up to Rs 2,000 per year is provided to support 16-19 age group OoSCs, belonging to socio-economically disadvantaged groups, to complete their education through NIOS/SIOS, to access the course materials. and certification,” he added.
