In the police complaint, Manjit Mahanta, chairman of the Assam Congress media department, said Ajmal had made non-parliamentary statements against APCC Chairman Bhupen Kumar Borah and 10 other political parties.
The Assam Congress on Wednesday filed an FIR against the head of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), Badruddin Ajmal, for making a derogatory statement against the party.
Last week, the state Congress hosted an 11-party rally in Guwahati, urging all like-minded opposition forces to defeat the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The AIUDF, led by perfume magnate Ajmal, was not invited to the meeting.
In the police complaint, Manjit Mahanta, chairman of the Assam Congress media department, said Ajmal had made non-parliamentary statements against APCC Chairman Bhupen Kumar Borah and 10 other political parties.
Ajmal has previously come under fire for indecent comments against women and the prime minister of Assam, the complaint says.
“We attach here press clippings from Amar Asom, issue of May 3, where his statements have been published. Badruddin Ajmal, MP and AIUDF Chairman, has been continuously trying to smear the image of our language, culture etc. and he too has attempted to weaken the social fabric of Assamese society,” the complaint reads.
