Mufti Qaiser Farooq, one of the most wanted leaders of Pakistani terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was shot dead by “unknown men” in Karachi, police sources said on Sunday.
Qaiser Farooq was one of the founding members of LeT and a close associate of Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.
According to police sources, Qaiser Farooq, 30, was shot on Saturday in a “targeted attack” near a religious institution in the Samanabad area.
Farooq, who suffered gunshot wounds to his back, was taken to a hospital, where he died during treatment.
CCTV footage, purportedly of Farooq’s murder, is circulating on social media. India Today could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.
A minor was also injured in the attack.
