ISLAMABAD, June 22 (Reuters) – There were at least 209 Pakistani “victims” in an overloaded boat that capsized and sank in the open sea off Greece, data shared with Reuters by a Pakistani investigative agency showed on Thursday.
The data shared by the Federal Investigation Agency said 181 were from Pakistan and 28 from Pakistani-administered Kashmir, adding that officials had collected DNA samples from 201 families to help Greece identify the missing.
It was not immediately clear on what basis the agency identified them as victims, with the official number of the accident still at 82 and the survivors at 104, of whom 12 are Pakistanis. Hundreds of people are believed to have been on board the ship.
