Atlantic City man gets 3½ years in Galloway gun case | Breaking AC

Michael Wimbish (Atlantic County Justice Facility)

An Atlantic City man was sentenced to 3½ years in prison for a gun charge.

Michael Wimbish, 42, pleaded guilty last month to second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun.

He has been jailed since Nov. 9, 2022, when he was stopped while driving in Galloway Township, and police found he had an active warrant out of Atlantic City.

Wimbish was on Recovery Court at the time, after pleading into the diversion program in 2019 on a previous drug charge.

A K-9 dog alerted police during the stop, and search led to a loaded handgun stuffed between the driver’s seat and the center console.

Wimbish already has served about 3½ years in the Atlantic County Justice Facility. He remains there pending transfer to state prison.
