Bank holiday opening hours for Tesco, Asda, M&S and Sainsbury’s

Major supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, M&S and Asda have confirmed their bank holiday opening hours and shoppers will need to be aware of the times they can visit this coming weekend as some stores will be operating reduced times. This year’s Spring Bank Holiday falls on Monday, May 26 and Brits across the country are gearing up to enjoy the extra day off, whether it’s spent in front of the TV or outside enjoying a sunny barbecue. 

For those hoping to visit their local supermarket this bank holiday weekend, they should make themselves aware of opening times that may be different than usual. Hours vary for different supermarkets and stores across the country will operate different opening and closing times. Here is a guide to the bank holiday opening hours for Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, M&S and more supermarkets across the UK. 

Tesco

Opening hours for Tesco stores across the country vary on Bank Holiday Monday, May 26. However, most Tesco stores across the UK will be open from 8am until 6pm. Tesco Express stores may open later than that. Customers are advised to check their local Tesco opening hours here. 

Asda

Most of Asda’s supermarkets in the UK will operate their normal opening hours on the bank holiday. However, some stores are set to close at 5pm and shoppers are urged to use Asda’s store locator to check their local opening times.

Sainsbury’s

Most bigger Sainbury’s stores across the UK will open between 8am and 8pm this Bank Holiday Monday, May 26. Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s Local stores will operate their usual opening hours until 11pm.

M&S

M&S will have regular opening hours in a vast number of stores across the country, typically opening until 8pm, 9pm or 10pm. Hours differ depending on the store, so customers are urged to check their local M&S opening times if they are not already familiar. 

Lidl

While most Lidl stores across the UK will open until 10pm on May 26, some will shut at 8pm, so shoppers need to double check the opening times of their local store. Most will open from 8am on Monday. 

Aldi

Aldi stores in England and Wales will be open between 8am and 8pm on Monday, while stores in Scotland will open until 10pm as per usual. 

Morrison’s

Morrison’s stores in England and Wales will open between 7am and 8pm while stores in Scotland will operate as usual. 

Waitrose

Waitrose stores will operate various opening hours this Bank Holiday Monday, May 26. Some some Little Waitrose shops open from 7am to 10pm but customers are adivsed to check their local store opening times.
