In brief televised remarks on Sunday, President Joe Biden said there was no additional information to share on the motives of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the gunman who tried to assassinate former President Donald Trump on Saturday.
“We don’t yet have any information about the motive of the shooter. We know who he is,” Biden said. “I urge everyone, everyone, please don’t make assumptions about his motives or his affiliations.”
Biden also said he ordered a review of security measures for the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee this week and an “independent review of the national security” at Saturday’s Trump rally, where the shooting occurred.
