The BJP is following the same path as Congress when it comes to “getting the central agencies to carry out raids” and would face the same fate as Congress, Samajwadi Party Chairman Akhilesh Yadav said on Saturday.
Akhilesh told the media in Ahmedabad: “I have met industrialists from Gujarat several times in the past. They say if they don’t face a CBI raid, they feel bad. Gujarat people know the importance of this – income tax, ED (Enforcement Directorate) and CBI. I have also said in the past that ED is ‘examination in democracy’. One has to pass this test. The BJP is following the same route as the Congress.”
“The tradition started by Congress is being followed by the BJP. The BJP is not doing anything new by having the ED, CBI and IT carry out raids. Those who are doing the raids… Will end up suffering the same fate as the Congress: That there will be no one to take the name of the BJP…”
“The CBI, ED and the department of income taxes work according to the instructions of the government. If the Congress has collapsed today, the BJP will come tomorrow too,” he added. The leader of the opposition in the UP Assembly is in Gujarat for a two-day visit. “I have also come to Gujarat several times in the past. This land has always sent a message. The father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, who was born here, vowed to follow non-violence,” Akhilesh said.
“The slogan of truth and non-violence was given by Mahatma Gandhi… India followed that path and achieved Independence. Along with Independence, people in politics also followed these principles in their lives. This was the path of non-violence and truth. But since the BJP came to power and especially in Uttar Pradesh, they have forgotten about these ways. They do not follow the path of truth. The path of non-violence has been taken by the bulldozer,” Akhilesh added.
The former Prime Minister of Uttar Pradesh, who arrived in ahmedabad on Saturday he will attend the wedding of the grandson of former Gujarati CM Shankersinh Vaghela.
