After launching Lok Sabha Pravas Yojana for 14 Lok Sabha constituencies which it lost in the 2019 general election in Uttar Pradesh, the state BJP has now come up with another strategy to win all 64 seats including the Azamgarh and Rampur seats it won in the polls, where the party had registered victory in the last parliamentary elections.
The party decided to involve more than a million people who registered as its core members ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections in the state and former party workers, who are inactive and marginalized, to execute the strategy, party sources said. game.
In the 2019 parliamentary elections, the BJP won 62 Parliament seats, and his ally Apna Dal (S) (2), Bahujan Samaj Festival (BSP) (10), samajwadi party (SP) (5) and Congress (1) in UP. The SP had lost two seats, Azamgarh and Rampur, to the BJP in secondary polls last year.
To strengthen its control in the constituencies it lost, the BJP has launched Lok Sabha Pravas Yojana under which Union ministers are touring these constituencies.
“Retaining the seats that the party won in the last elections is also a challenge. The party had won 71 seats in 2014 in UP, which were reduced to 64 in 2019. Therefore, the party has mapped out a strategy to retain these seats. Preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in these districts will start after the urban local body elections,” a BJP leader said.
Elections for local bodies are likely to take place between April and May.
Explaining the strategy, the leader said the party would hold group meetings at the booth level with more than a million people signed up as core members through “missed calls” from their mobile phones.
In addition, the party will also approach each of its workers and hold meetings with them, seeking their support in managing the polls and publicizing the government’s achievements.
At the meetings, workers will also receive training on how to manage polling stations at the booth level and the use of various media for the campaign, including social media, the leader said.
The leader said that a state-level party official had been entrusted with the responsibility of compiling the profiles of those workers and party leaders (in each district) who had ever held positions in the party organization from booth level to the state, but become inactive for a few times when they felt neglected by the party after coming to power. The collected profiles will be uploaded to the party portal for exclusive party access.
“The party will try to convince them and seek their support to retain the seats it won in 2019 because winning in the UP is essential to form a government in the Center in 2024. The party
he will use his past experiences to build his future,” the leader said.
According to the sources, in each segment of the Assembly in each Lok Sabha constituency, the party has ordered local units to prepare lists of 100 influential people and religious, social and cultural organizations in order to reach them before the elections.
In addition to this, the party will ask the Union Minister in charge of each district to visit their Lok Sabha constituencies frequently and review the status of development projects and welfare plans.
Ministers should expedite the completion of the development project by coordinating with the state and the Center, and sitting MPs will be asked to connect with voters and ensure their presence on the ground, another leader said.
