BREAKING: Shooting suspect surrenders, victim stable

Beaumont police have a suspect in custody in a shooting on the north side of town.

Officers responded to a welfare check at about 10:40 this morning at a gas station/strip shopping center in the 4700 block of Magnolia Avenue near Tyler Street.

They found a man on the ground. A family member said the victim told them he’d been shot. EMS arrived on scene and transported the victim to a hospital in stable condition.

Through further investigation and the use of surveillance cameras, BPD learned the victim had been shot during a disturbance nearby in the 1900 block of Tyler. Officers set up a perimeter and the suspect followed commands, quickly surrendering to police.
