Brit, 29, named after body found on £27m superyacht in Majorca

A British woman died while on a yacht in Majorca. She has been named as 29-year-old Charlotte Conradie. She was found unresponsive in her cabin after concern was raised when she was not answering calls or text messages. She was found on Sunday night as the boat was moored in Palma, Majorca. Paramedics were called to the 170-foot luxury vessel. Fellow crew members were stunned by the incident.

Her death is not currently being treated as suspicious. However, it did trigger a police probe. Conradie’s body was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Palma for a post-mortem examination, which has not yet been completed. Her crewmates have been interviewed as part of the routine procedure by the police. Conradie had been based in Europe for several years, although she held a British passport and was born in Zambia, with several relatives understood to be living in South Africa. She worked in a maintenance role on the yacht.

A Civil Guard spokesman in Majorca confirmed: “The dead woman was a 29-year-old British national.”

Meanwhile, a source close to the investigation said: “Everything is pointing to her death being the result of natural causes. At this moment in time, it is not being treated as a crime, although the results of the autopsy are still pending.”

She was working on the luxury, custom-built motor yacht Lind. It costs close to £300,000 to charter for a week during the peak tourist season.

The boat carried the flag of the Cayman Islands, but was built in the Netherlands. Its exterior was designed by the award-winning Tim Heywood.

The ship has the capacity for around ten guests, along with 13 crew members. It has several luxury features such as an open-air cinema, gym, jacuzzi and an inflatable trampoline.

Additionally, it has a top speed of just over 15 knots. It is reportedly owned by German billionaire Peter Alexander Wacker, who is estimated to be worth $1 billion by Forbes.

He is known for owning around 10% of chemical giant Wacker Chemie AG, which was founded by his great-grandfather. Before joining the family company, he worked at BMW for several years.
