MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) – British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Sunday the government was making “good progress” in reducing inflation, as he set out his priorities at the start of the Conservatives’ annual conference in London. can.

Britain’s inflation rate is forecast to fall to around 5% by the end of the year – half the level in January – and hitting the target would mean Sunak would deliver on one of the five key promises he set out at the start of the year.

“Inflation is making people poorer, the faster we reduce it the better it will be, and that’s why it’s the right priority, and we’re making good progress,” Sunak told the BBC.
