Bugti seeks action against fake news | The Express Tribune

Alarmed by the unchecked spread of misinformation and character assassination online, Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti on Tuesday raised the issue of social media misuse, calling for coordinated legislative and institutional action to rein in organised digital campaigns targeting elected representatives.

Speaking on the floor of the Balochistan Assembly, the chief minister said the misuse of social media had reached a point where it was becoming increasingly difficult to control.

He told the House that he had personally been subjected to online harassment and misinformation, adding that fabricated stories were frequently linked to his name, often leaving him shocked by their baseless nature.
