Canadian woman mauled to death by her pet pitbull dog

She flagged down a moving car and they both called emergency as the dog, believed to be a large pitbull, ran away.

The dog was later killed when it was struck by a car.

The young victim has not been named, but it is believed she was new to the area.

But local councillor Steve Streatch said the region was resilient.

“We have definitely had more than our share over the last few months,” he told the National Post.

“It only adds to our resolve and the character of a community that I’m very proud to represent and live in.”
