Chaos as major motorway blocked due to massive lorry fire – huge delays

Traffic has been stopped on the M6 northbound in the West Midlands after an HGV caught fire, with queues stretching for nine miles and delays of up to 90 minutes.

The motorway is affected between J4 for Birmingham Airport and J6 for Birmingham, where West Midlands Fire Service crews are working at the scene.

Pictures show smoke rising from the vehicle as emergency crews respond.
