Chaos as major station cancels trains in blow for passengers over Easter

Motorways and A-roads across the country have been affected by incidents overnight that have seen routes closed to motorists.

A vehicle fire on the M20 near Maidstone saw drivers stuck in 30-minute delays around midnight, which cleared an hour later. At the same time, the M5 near Walsall was shut in both directions due to a “police led incident.”

While these earlier incidents have cleared, other closures are affecting early-morning Easter motorists across Britain.

Two high streets in London have remained closed in both directions overnight after an accident closed the A222 in Beckenham and a police incident closed the A232 in West Wickham.

In Lincolnshire, investigation work following an earlier accident has seen the A631 remain closed for over 10 hours, while similar investigations into an earlier accident have closed the A183 in Whitburn, outside Sunderland.
