Traffic on the M62 has been stopped after a fire broke out near Milnrow, Greater Manchester. Drivers are facing major delays after a vehicle caught fire on the eastbound carriageway shortly after junction 21.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Milnrow at around 10.40am. Traffic was temporarily held while crews dealt with the incident and assessed the vehicle. Lanes have since begun to reopen, but restrictions remain in place.
Queues are stretching back towards junction 20 at Rochdale, with congestion also affecting surrounding routes. Motorists are being warned to allow extra time for their journeys this morning. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
