Chaos on major UK motorway as huge bridge is closed after horror crash

Today’s disruption on the M4 follows the closure of the M48 bridge last night, which is the other major route over water into England.

Traffic Wales confirmed the bridge reopened this morning, but maps show congestion on the M48 today.

It said in a statement at midnight: “The #M48 #SevernBridge remains closed since last night in both directions due to high wind speeds.

“We will continue to monitor this throughout the morning. Traffic will be diverted via the #M4 #PrinceofWalesBridge.”
