The M1 is seeing long traffic delays after two separate crashes as both northbound and southbound lanes are affected. On the M1 northbound, there are several significant disruptions. Between J36 (Hoyland) and J37 (Barnsley), all lanes are closed due to an incident, with normal traffic expected to resume between 11.15 pm and 11.30 pm on May 4. Access at J36 northbound in Hoyland is also closed due to a separate incident, with clearance expected slightly earlier, between 11pm and 11.15 pm.
Northbound congestion is reported between J6A and J8 near Hemel Hempstead, with normal conditions expected between 9.30 pm and 9.45 pm on May 4. Additionally, a vehicle fire within J8 has closed all lanes, with normal traffic expected between 10.45 pm and 11 pm. The northbound exit at J36 (Hoyland) is also experiencing congestion, although no lane closures are reported. Traffic levels vary from medium to high across these sections.
