One of Chelsea’s fringe players has been speaking about life under new boss Enzo Maresca.
Enzo Maresca replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea manager during the summer and has not made a bad start in the dugout.
Chelsea currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, recently beating Bournemouth 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium.
The likes of Robert Sanchez and Levi Colwill helped the Blues to keep a clean sheet on the night, and it has been claimed that Maresca has been impressed with Colwill so far.
Marcus Bettinelli on Enzo Maresca
Currently Chelsea’s third-choice goalkeeper, Marcus Bettinelli is yet to play a game under Maresca this season.
Nevertheless, the 32-year-old still seems to be getting on well with his manager and has been speaking about his time working with him so far.
In an interview with The Athletic, Bettinelli said: “I had a fantastic relationship with Mauricio, the same with Graham [Potter] and Thomas [Tuchel], who brought me in. I have known Enzo Maresca for only a short time, but I really enjoy working with him.”
Sanchez is Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper at present, and the Spaniard had an excellent game against Bournemouth last time out.
Ben Foster thinks Sanchez has “absolutely everything”, praising him following his display at the Vitality Stadium.
Enzo Maresca will not be popular with everyone
While Bettinelli appears to be a fan of Maresca, not every Chelsea player will be. Ben Chilwell will not be happy with the 44-year-old and how he has treated him since his arrival.
Chilwell is training with the first-team squad but had been removed from it at one point after Maresca claimed that he could not find a position for him.
Raheem Sterling is another person who is unlikely to be a member of the Maresca fan club. Like Chilwell, the England international was also frozen out before joining Arsenal on loan.
Sterling recently made his Arsenal debut, coming on in the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday.
Chelsea’s squad is massive. Maresca cannot please everyone and has had to make some big calls. He will argue that he is at Stamford Bridge to win games, not make friends.
